Did you know that anyone can learn how to conduct an integrity interview? Big companies often pay thousands of dollars to have their LP managers certified. The two major techniques used are “Wicklander” and “Reid”.
The first technique is deliberately set up to put the subject in a frame of mind where they feel comfortable confessing and repaying the losses. The second one is used primarily by law enforcement and is very aggressive and accusatory. This is the one often portrayed on T.V. and in movies and is not well suited for retail. Anybody can be taught the version used in retail. There is even a set of questions that you can ask an employee to determine their honestly level. This is beneficial if it’s known that there is a loss without having a detailed investigation.
